About

As a project manager at RME, Cassandra brings over a decade of teaching and district-level coaching, curriculum, and assessment design to RME's research efforts. While serving at RME, she has been an integral part of managing and leading various assessment, curriculum, and teacher development projects. In her role as project managers, she develops comprehensive long-term timelines, supports team members in outlining and strategically thinking through the components of the projects, while also keeping a keen eye on the mathematics content. She has worked with lead researchers to design the ESTAR Diagnostic Assessment Learning Progressions and the interfaces of Istation's ISIP PK-G1 interactive universal screening assessment. She has also supported the design and development of more than 10,000 PK-8th grade assessment items through RME's various projects.

Cassandra received her B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies - Mathematics from Texas A&M University Commerce and her M.Ed. in Leadership of Learning from Abilene Christian University where she received certification as a K-12 Principal and in Conflict Resolution. Prior to arriving at SMU, she served as an Elementary Math Specialist for two area school districts. Her primary role was to support campus administrators by coaching teachers in pedagogy, including classroom discourse and mathematical content, as well as writing district curriculum and assessments. She has taught 4th - 8th grade mathematics and worked on various national, state, and local assessment projects.
