Semester Online

Course Guide

The table below lists the Semester Online (SON) courses and the SMU version of the course and how the course will count towards program requirements at SMU.

SON courses do not count towards the GEC and UC general education requirements.

Students may petition to have a SON course count for a specific academic program requirement, but they should not anticipate that such petitions would be granted.

SON course descriptions, course syllabus, faculty biographical profiles and scheduling information are located on the SON website. SMU students should contact a SON counselor for questions related to the content of a SON course, how the course will be taught, expectations of the instructor, technology requirements, and books and materials needed.

The SMU course equivalent (what will appear on the SMU academic record) for a SON course can be found in the Access.SMU Course Catalog, and the class offerings for a term can be found in the Access.SMU Schedule of Classes.

SMU students should contact the SMU Coordinator of Special Studies for information on how to enroll for a SON course at SMU, and should contact their academic adviser for information on how the course will count in their SMU degree plan.
