Responsibility for Fines
Document delivery service is provided to SMU distance library users free. All material is due on the date listed on the item. Fines will be charged for overdue items. These fines will be retained in the user's library bill and fine account for at least one month and then are transferred to the SMU Cashier's Office for collection.
The copyright law of the U.S. (Title 17, U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy of other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would violate copyright law.
I, the requester, certify that this request complies with the fair use provision of the copyright law.
