My current research areas are theoretical statistics and applied statistics in social sciences.

What is something cool about your field?
(1) Statistician will be the sexy job for the next 10 years, according to Google's Chief Economist Hal Varian.  (2) I love this classic joke of statistics.

What is the best thing you've done as a graduate student at SMU so far?
Attending seminars, especially interdisciplinary ones.  There are at on of seminars on campus every week with top-notch guest speakers from SMU and many other universities.  It broadens my interests a lot, and I'm fascinated to learn how academic fields can converge together to create new knowledge and solve bigger problems in the world.

What is your favorite thing to do in Dallas?
Eating :-).  Everything is bigger in Texas; this is especially true for FOOD.

What do you wish you'd known before starting graduate school?
You have to be more self-motivated than you might expect...

What is your favorite leisure activity?
Leisure reading (not about statistics, of course)!  I read books of many categories, both fiction and non-fiction ones.  My personal goal is to read at least one book per month.  It's challenging, but it helps me relax a lot.
