Jackson Covert

Jackson is from San Antonio, Texas and is majoring in Art History and International Studies with minors in Public Policy and International Affairs, History, European Studies, Latin American and Iberian Studies, and Italian. Jackson is a President’s Scholar, a Pre-Law Scholar and a member of the University Honors Program, and he is a Programming Chair in Program Council and an undergraduate researcher in the Art History Department. He is a member of the Alpha Chi and Alpha Lambda Delta honor societies and has earned a place at least on the Honor Roll with Distinction every semester. In Spring 2021, Jackson was awarded the Megan Laird and Raiberto Comini Italian Language Award, and in the following summer he lived and worked in Uganda for a nonprofit focused on combating extremist organizations in the region. Jackson plans to study international affairs at the graduate level but immediately after graduation hopes to study abroad with a Fulbright Grant. His primary policy interests are energy, labor and foreign policy, especially the issues of sustainable energy production, wage growth and containment of Chinese power.
