Is the global trip required?

Yes, and it is included in your tuition. It is a 3 credit hour course which highlight Global Business Consulting. This course is considered a capstone of the EMBA experience. Historically, this 9-10 day trip occurs in October of Year 2.

How many years of work experience do I need to qualify?

Strong candidates for the Executive MBA Program should have at least 8 years of post undergraduate work experience. Candidates with untraditional work experience are encourage to call us for a pre-screen.


Do I need to take the GMAT?

We do not require standardized tests for admission (GMAT/GRE/ Executive Assessment). We will be evaluating your previous academic work and professional experience holistically throughout the admission process. If you have taken a standardized test, you can submit the score, which will be viewed as a supplement to your online application.


I've been out of school for a long time.  Are there ways you help us prepare for the program?

Yes - and you are not alone. Along with free tutorials for Accounting, and Statistics we host workshops in Advanced Reading Skills. In the summer before the program begins and at our annual orientation, we also provide tips on how to study effectively and tips for how to integrate academics into your new routine.


When does the program start?

The next class starts in August of 2022


When are classes and what are class days like?

Classes are held on Fridays and Saturdays about twice per month. Some of the class days (either Friday or Saturday) are half days, where students attend the morning or afternoon session. Executive MBA class days begin with breakfast at 7:15AM. The morning classes are from 8:00-11:50 a.m. Lunch is served at the break, and afternoon class sessions are from 1:10-5:00 p.m. Fridays and 12:50-4:40 p.m. on Saturdays. A typical class day also includes breaks for snacks and coffee. 


How much is the program tuition and what does that amount include?

The Cox Executive MBA Program tuition for the class entering Fall 2021 is $123,495. The tuition covers the cost of academic cases, use of the Business Information Center, parking, meals on each class day, lodging, and some meals associated with the required global trip. In addition there is a $3,000 non-refundable enrollment fee (not applied towards tuition) that guarantees your place in the class. Official tuition payment dates can be found at the university bursar's office.

Please contact a Graduate Financial Aid Counselor: gradfinaid@smu.edu. After you are accepted to the Cox School, you will have access to our dedicated EMBA financial aid officer for a one on one appointment. 


What will my degree be listed as?

All diplomas will be a Master of Business Administration. The diploma does not distinguish among the different MBA formats at SMU Cox and is fully accredited by AACSB international.
