  • Transferring to Cox —Students graduating high school in Spring 2019 and earlier

    To qualify for admission to Cox, students must first apply and be admitted to SMU. Then, students must complete the following requirements:

    • Completed the "business subset" with passing grades, and
    • a minimum of 39 credit hours, and
    • a minimum 3.500 cumulative, all-college GPA in the semester the business subset and at least 39 hours are completed. 

    Courses taken at a previous institution must transfer to SMU to count towards the subset. Once a student enters SMU all remaining subset courses must be completed in residence at SMU.

    WRTR 1312: Introduction to Academic Writing 

    WRTR 1313: Writing and Critical Reasoning

    MATH 1309 Calculus for Business and Social Science  (or Math 1337 or Math 1340)

    ECO 1311 Micro-economics

    ECO 1312 Macro-economics

    STAT 2331 Intro to Statistical Methods (or ITOM 2305)

    ACCT 2301 Intro to Financial Accounting

  • Internal Transfer Process

    Current SMU students who graduated high school spring 2019 and earlier, and seek to change their major to business, can follow the pre-business path of admission. They will need to complete the seven course business subset and achieve a cumulative, all-college GPA of 3.5 or higher in the semester the coursework is completed.
