BBA Admission Requirements —1st Year students entering in Fall 2019
To qualify for admission to Cox, students must have:
- Completed the "business subset" with passing grades, and
- a minimum of 39 credit hours, and
- a minimum 3.500 cumulative, all-college GPA in the semester the business subset and at least 39 hours are completed. (Pre-Business students only)
Courses completed through AP and transfer credit apply toward the subset. Once a student enters SMU all remaining subset courses must be completed in residence at SMU.

Transferring to Cox —Students graduating high school in Spring 2019 and earlier
To qualify for admission to Cox, students must first apply and be admitted to SMU. Then, students must complete the following requirements:
- Completed the "business subset" with passing grades, and
- a minimum of 39 credit hours, and
- a minimum 3.500 cumulative, all-college GPA in the semester the business subset and at least 39 hours are completed.
Courses taken at a previous institution must transfer to SMU to count towards the subset. Once a student enters SMU all remaining subset courses must be completed in residence at SMU.

Internal Transfer Process
Current SMU students who graduated high school spring 2019 and earlier, and seek to change their major to business, can follow the pre-business path of admission. They will need to complete the seven course business subset and achieve a cumulative, all-college GPA of 3.5 or higher in the semester the coursework is completed.

Financing Your BBA
An undergraduate business education is an investment, and a Cox degree paves the way toward a great ROI. There are several scholarship opportunities across campus. The BBA Admission office only offers merit based scholarships for first year students invited into the BBA Scholars program. All students applying to SMU may be eligible for additional merit based scholarships awarded though the SMU Undergraduate Admission Office. Need based assistance can be applied for through the SMU Financial Aid office. -

The best way to find out if Cox is the right school for you is to visit us in Dallas. You can schedule an information session and tour through the SMU Undergraduate Admission website— these are scheduled throughout the year and include a Cox Information Session. The Cox Information Session is offered Monday-Friday at 1:00 p.m. In the Fall, we offer our Cox Spotlight visit day that will give you an in-depth look into our undergraduate program. If you can't make it to Dallas, meet us on the road when we join the SMU Undergraduate Admission Office at programs in various cities. We'd love to meet you!
