MBA Candidate Resources

The SMU Cox Career Management Center offers a variety of resources to aid our MBA candidates in the job search, including:

  • Our online job database for our MBA candidates and alumni, Handshake
  • A weekly e-newsletter, the "Take 5", highlighting new jobs, upcoming events, and on-campus recruiting opportunities
  • CareerLeader, a business career self-assessment tool
  • A variety of additional online resources that encourage students to find their best career paths

Handshake

MBA students are encouraged to use Handshake, the online job board for MBA candidates and alumni, to apply to current opportunities and sign up for on-campus recruiting events. (Password Required)

The Take 5

The Take 5 e-newsletter is sent to all full-time and Professional MBA candidates weekly. The e-newsletter highlights upcoming events and on-campus interviews, and includes a quick snapshot of the job postings available that week.

Career Coaching Appointments

MBA candidates are encouraged to meet with our career coaches to discuss career goals, develop the perfect elevator pitch, or for resume review.

BBA/MS Student Resources

The SMU Cox Career Management Center maintains a variety of resources for BBA and MS students. These resources include:

  • Our online job database, Handshake

  • A variety of online resources that encourage students to find their best career paths

Handshake

In Handshake, students can:

  • Update their user profiles so employers can contact them about applicable opportunities.
  • Actively search for current job postings and apply.
  • View a list of upcoming on-campus recruiting events and sign up.
BBA and MS students are encouraged to utilize Handshake regularly to search for job postings and to sign up for on-campus recruiting events (SMU login required).

The Take 5

Students should be on the lookout for the CMC's weekly e-newsletter for BBA and MS students, the Take 5. The newsletter includes the most up-to-date information about on-campus interviews, job postings, and upcoming events.

Career Coaching Appointments

BBA and MS students are encouraged to meet with our career coaches to discuss career goals, develop interview skills, or for resume review.

FREE access to prep resources (I-Bank, PE, and hedge fund interviews, financial modeling, resumes and much more) for SMU Cox students is available (must use SMU email address to create user account).

CareerShift is a comprehensive resource to help you conduct and manage your job search. Search and store job postings, get inside contact information, create documents and email campaigns, keep notes and track follow-ups. Manage your job search all from one place.

Glassdoor, an anonymous workplace community, offers a free inside look at over 235,000 companies. Research company info, identify salary expectations, and prepare for interviews with info contributed by company employees.

Internships.com provides one of the largest internship databases available and allows students to research and connect with potential opportunities.

Job Choices Online, sponsored by your SMU Cox Career Management Center and the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), is an online newsletter with the latest hiring outlook, details on what employers want in job candidates, tips on the job search process, current salary information, and advice on social networking in the job search.
