A series of optional webinars for students and families to engage virtually with members of the SMU community and each other. During this series, offices from around the Hilltop present resources, information, and live Q&As on various topics we believe are important for new Mustangs.

 

New Student Logistics

In this session, we covered the essentials of living on campus. Additionally, we shared move-in tips, important deadlines regarding parking and ID, mail center operations, and information about our tasty dining options. A PDF of this presentation is available to view here.

  • Parking & ID Services
    • Remember to upload your ID photo to idcard.smu.edu.
    • For general information about transportation and parking, including registering for a parking permit visit smu.edu/parkingid.

  • SMU Hospitality
    • For information about dining locations, menus, and fun dining events, check out SMU’s hospitality’s website smudining.com.
    • Click here to sign up for a meal plan! Meal plans begin August 16th, and September 6th is the last day to change your fall meal plan.
    • Please note that Flex rolls over fall semester to spring semester of an academic year, but not spring semester to the following fall semester. Students with a meal plan get 10 guest passes. You are automatically rolled over to the Spring Plan based on the Fall meal plan option.
    • If you have a question, special dietary needs, food allergies, or intolerances? Reach out to our campus dietitian via dietitian@smu.edu.

 

  • Residence Life and Student Housing
    • Learn more about the Residential Commons System!
    • The deadline to sign up for a move-in time slot and loft request, July 31st.
      This can be done through the housing portal.
    • Check out the FAQ page for fall move-in, which is updated regularly.

Money Matters

In the Money Matters session, the Student Financials team covered SMU billing, paying your bill, and other helpful information for new students and families.

  • SMUPay can be found through My.SMU.edu and is a one stop shop for all things financial. Make sure the student signs up a parent as an authorized payer to receive notifications.
  • Once authorized, visit SMUpay to view invoices, make payments, and enroll in a payment plan.
  • You can find your financial aid advisor here.
  • To apply for financial aid: first complete the FAFSA and then complete the CSS profile.
  • To find the list of non-SMU private lenders for educational loans, please visit.  
  • To receive information and access to a student account, make sure the student inputs a parent into the Release of Education Records through My.SMU.edu
