Liaison - Graduate Students
Lindsey Koch serves as the Director in the Office of the Student Experience and joined SMU in August 2013. She received her B.B.S. in Public Relations and Advertising, with a minor in Leadership, from Hardin-Simmons University. Her professional work with student affairs began with her position as Coordinator of Student Activities at Hardin-Simmons University. Lindsey earned her M.Ed. in Adult and Higher Education from the University of Houston-Victoria, while serving as UHV’s Director of Student Life and Services. She earned her Ed. D. in Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education from Hardin-Simmons University. Lindsey’s passion for student leadership and commitment to student development continues to grow through her professional and academic work in student affairs.
A 1970 graduate of SMU, Dr. Deanie Kepler serves as the liaison between the University and parents and their families, helping students adjust to campus life and helping parents adjust to life as the parents of a college student. Deanie’s experience as the parent of an SMU graduate serves her well in this position.
Her advice and counsel covers a broad span of student-parent issues, including preparing for the first year of university life, utilizing campus resources throughout a student's years at SMU, and working to help parents learn to support their students on common collegiate challenges that may occur such as coping with roommates, developing critical study skills, preparing for final exams, returning home for the holidays, and overcoming the ups and downs of college life. She works closely with the Mothers’ and Dads’ Clubs whose primary goals of supporting student success and enhancing the SMU experience help build a life-long affinity among students, their families and the University.
Deanie has a Master's degree in Student Personnel from Indiana University and her Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Assistant Director, Leadership Programs
Liaison - International Students
Meghan Perez serves as an Assistant Director in the Office of the Student Experience at SMU. In this role, she is responsible for undergraduate leadership programming and developing the Division of Student Affairs’ Leadership Framework. Prior to joining SMU, Meghan worked in student leadership programing throughout the southeast at Texas A&M University, University of Alabama, and University of Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Master of Science in Educational Administration with an emphasis in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education from Texas A&M University. Before going to graduate school, Meghan was on the team that opened the Houston, Texas office of The Posse Foundation, a leadership-based college access scholarship program.
Meghan, a Houston native, enjoys living in Dallas. She loves spending time with her friends trying out new restaurants, traveling to new and favorite places, and yelling for the Aggies.
Graduate Assistant, Orientation and Transition Programs
Faith Brewer serves as the Graduate Assistant in the Office of the Student Experience for the 2019-2020 academic year. She received her B.F.A. in Theatre with an emphasis in Musical Theatre from Texas Christian University. Currently, she is pursuing her M.Ed. in Higher Education Leadership at Policy here at SMU. Faith is passionate about welcoming new students and encouraging them to make the most of their collegiate years!
