Stampede 2020

Stampede 2020 will take place Thursday, August 20 to Sunday, August 23!

Please check back for updates about the schedule!

Parents & Families are encouraged to return home Thursday evening after the Mustang Cook-Out & Stampede Kick Off as students are off-campus Friday & Saturday.  Please make travel arrangements with this in mind. 


Residential Commons

Stampede Guides & volunteers from across campus will be ready to help you move-in! Visit the Residence Life & Student Housing website to learn more about where to go, what to pack, & more. 

Mustang Cook-Out

Arnold Dining Commons, Mack Ballroom, & Umphrey Lee Center

The SMU Mother's & Dad's Club sponsors the Family Cook-Out after move-in. They invite families and students to come enjoy a Texas Cook-Out. Following the Family Cook-Out, we ask families to say goodbye to their students, as they will be busy getting to know other members of their Residential Commons for the rest of the night!

Stampede Kick-Off

Students: Get ready to get rowdy with your Residential Commons! Kick Off is the official start to Stampede. This is a spirited event where students will continue to learn about what it means to be an SMU Mustang!

Parents & Families: Although you will not sit with your student, we invite you to join us at Kick-Off & witness the Mustang spirit in person!

Discover Dallas

Various Locations across Dallas

Thursday morning, you will participate in Discover Dallas. Discover Dallas is an opportunity for you to explore your city whether you are from across the metroplex or across the country. You have the opportunity to preference what type of Discover Dallas trip you are interested in when you register for AARO. Discover Dallas aims to connect you with the city you will call home while at SMU. 

Stang Safety

In order to prepare you to live safely & healthily on campus, SMU students put on a program called "Connecting the Dots". This mandatory program aims to help students recognize sexual, emotional, & physical abuse in their own relationships or relationships of friends, roommates, or classmates.
