2018 Spring Cohort

Donna Charkhkar

Donna is from Nashville, TN and is graduating in May. She is double majoring in Finance and Markets & Culture. Donna will be moving to New York in the fall to work in the financial sector. Some of her interests are international relations, economics, and public policy. 

Jackson Overton

Jackson Overton is a freshman from Columbia, Missouri. He plans on majoring in Accounting and minoring in History. Jackson is a member of Park Cities Baptist Church where he enjoys the college ministry and resplendent traditional service on Sunday mornings. Aside from school and church, Jackson enjoys watching football, spending time with fellow members of his fraternity (Beta Upsilon Chi), playing Xbox, seeing movies, and consuming an ungodly amount of Bubba's fried chicken.

 

 Hannah Ali

Hannah is a junior from Duncanville, Texas, currently majoring in Marketing with a minor in Religious Studies with a minor in Jewish Studies. In her time at SMU, she has joined various organizations such as Mustang11, a student run spirit organization, and Sigma Lambda Gamma, a sorority under the Multicultural Greek Council. In Hannah’s free time, she likes to try new restaurants around Dallas and go to concerts in Deep Ellum. After completing her undergraduate studies at SMU, she plans on attending law school to pursue a career as an attorney.

 

Drew Madding

Drew is a senior from Paris, TX who is majoring in Markets and Culture as well as Human Rights. He is a member of Watermark Community Church and serves with the special needs ministry there. Currently, Drew is on student staff with Highland Park Young Life and works with the middle school students at Highland Park Middle School. Drew is a member of Beta Upsilon Chi on campus and loves to spend his free time playing disc golf or board games. Next year, Drew will be in Oklahoma City teaching elementary school with Teach for America. 

 Silvia Rivera

Silvia Rivera is a senior studying Business, International Studies and Spanish. She grew up in South Texas’s Rio Grande Valley, and is a passionate traveler, reader, film and music lover, student of life and friend. She enjoys the Catholic Center’s 8PM candlelit mass and looks forward to deepening her faith through the Faith and Learning Scholar program.

 

Ethan Leong

Ethan is a junior from St.Louis, MO. He is currently majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Music. Ethan attends Park Cities Presbyterian Church and is a part of the young adult's ministry.  Outside of school, Ethan enjoys fishing, trying new food, and watching SMU Football and Basketball.

 

Caleb Kyle

Hailing from Austin, TX, Caleb is a graduate student in the Master of Arts in Design & Innovation program on track to graduate in May 2018. He studied computer science at SMU for his undergrad and hopes to start a career in tech product design after graduation, hoping to eventually start a company or two. In undergrad, Caleb served as the Chaplain and President of Beta Upsilon Chi (BYX) fraternity and continues to give back as the chair of the alumni association for the SMU chapter of BYX. Aside from school work, he enjoys completing freelance web and print design projects for a variety of clients in the DFW area.

 

Evie Mathis

Evie Mathis is from Boulder, CO. She is double majoring in Public Policy and Corporate Communication and Public Affairs. She enjoys being a part of SMU’s Mock Trial team, various political organizations, and her sorority, Chi Omega. She loves learning about the intersection of academia and a life of faith through the scholars program. 

 

Madison Blumenthal

Madi is a senior from McKinney, TX graduating in May with a BBA in Finance and a concentration in Real Estate Finance. Madi is a member of Watermark Community Church and serves as a small group leader at SMU in the college ministry. She is also a member of Sigma Phi Lambda on campus and loves spending her free time hammocking, going on walks, playing board games with friends, and has spent much of her free time this past year working with disaster recovery groups along the Gulf Coast to provide aid to Hurricane Harvey victims. After graduation in May, Madi will be working in Plano, TX as a finance analyst.
