The Virtual Reality Surgery Simulator (VRSS) project is led by an international, multidisciplinary team from King’s College London, Southern Methodist University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the University of Zambia. The team includes experts in cancer surgery, gynecologic oncology, global health, instructional design, video game design, and more. Here are some of the team members:
Eric G. Bing, MD, Ph.D, MBA
Dr. Eric G. Bing is a professor of global health in the Department of Applied Physiology and Sport Management in the Simmons School of Education and Human Development and in the Department of Anthropology in Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences at SMU.
Groesbeck Parham, MD
Dr. Groesbeck Parham is Director of the CIDRZ Cervical Cancer Prevention Program and professor of gynecologic oncology in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the only gynecologic oncologist currently working in Zambia.
Richard Sullivan, MD, Ph.D
Dr. Richard Sullivan is Professor of Cancer & Global Health at Kings College London (KCL), Director, Institute of Cancer Policy and Co-Director of King’s Conflict & Health Research Group.
Tony Cuevas, Ph.D
Dr. Tony Cuevas is a clinical professor in the Simmons School of Education and Human Development at Southern Methodist University and director of the Teacher Development Studio focusing on instructional design for Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality in education.
Boris Fisher
Boris Fisher is a veteran interactive game artist and designer. He teaches art creation at SMU Guildhall and supports research projects related to games and VR for health and education.
