Erica Simon is the Assistant Director for Strategic Development & Partnerships for the Research in Mathematics Education research unit. Her emphasis is on developing research, practitioner, and community partnerships to support RME's mission while being highly focused on access and equity for all children in mathematics. RME works directly with teachers, parents, and policy makers to identify gaps in foundational mathematics understanding while supporting mathematics achievement at every level.

Erica joined SMU and the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education & Human Development in August of 2009 as an observer on the Early Learning in Mathematics (ELM) study and returned to SMU in  2012 to join RME. At RME she has served as project coordinator on a randomized control trial for an international first and second grade mathematics intervention, Response to Intervention webinar series, on multiple state assessment development projects, and an IES funded 6th grade algebra readiness intervention. Erica participates in grant writing teams, disseminates RME research and development findings at state and national conferences, and promotes RME outreach through the coordination team for the annual Research-to-Practice Conference.
