Dr. Pooja Shivraj earned her Ph.D. in Education from Southern Methodist University in 2014. Prior to that, she obtained a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Baylor College of Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry and Mathematics from Austin College. She has also taught high school mathematics.
During her time at Southern Methodist University, Pooja performed an in-depth study investigating issues involving opportunity to learn and differential item functioning on the large-scale international assessment, PISA, in order to validate the interpretations made from their test scores. Pooja was involved in multiple projects in order to develop, validate, and analyze assessments.
Pooja's current research interests include the psychometric modeling of assessments for its development and refinement, issues involving the validity of the interpretations made from test scores in large-scale assessments, and cognitive and non-cognitive factors impacting student achievement in large-scale assessments.
