Saler Axel is a Research Assistant and doctoral student at the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Government from The University of Texas and her master's degree in Childhood Education from Pace University. Saler has taught second grade in public and independent schools in Brooklyn, NY and Washington, DC. She also taught middle school science and computer technology at an independent school in Houston. Just before joining SMU, Saler was a professor of teacher education and child development at Houston Community College System (HCCS) and Lonestar College System. While at HCCS, she was selected to help author the HCCS Quality Enhancement Plan for reaccreditation.
