District Coordinator of Mathematics, Midway ISD
Debbie Perry, M.Ed, has over 25 years of professional experience in education, having taught mathematics at the elementary, middle, secondary, and higher education levels. Since 2010, Deb has served as the Mathematics Coordinator for Midway ISD. In her role as coordinator, Deb developed and implemented many new training initiatives that engage and empower teachers to deepen content knowledge in order to make wise decisions about instruction. Every six weeks, she leads assessment writing teams and “comprehension of the new standards” trainings, as well as leads book studies and lesson studies with teams of teachers.
In 2009, Deb was named as one of three finalists for Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year. While teaching elementary mathematics in Florida, Deb was named a PAEMST state finalist. She serves on the steering committee of Baylor’s Professional Development Schools, as an officer in CTCTM, and on several advisory councils in Midway ISD. Deb was recently invited to TCTM’s first annual writer’s retreat as one of eight educators selected for the honor. Deb has written items for both ESTAR and MSTAR universal screeners and diagnostic assessments.
Deb has been married to Randall Perry for (almost) 40 years. She and Randall have two children who married real Texans! Their son Jonathan lives in Lewisville with his wife, Lindsey, and 1-month old son Hudson. Their daughter Emily lives in Hewitt with her husband Jeremy and their children Hogan, Miller, and Cecilia. Her role as “DeeDee” (married to “Boo Daddy”) is one of her favorites!
