Jo Ann Bilderback
Math/Science Content Specialist, Texas Education Agency
Jo Ann Bilderback is the Math/Science Content Specialist in the Curriculum Division at the Texas Education Agency. In the year and a half that she has been with the agency, Ms. Bilderback has worked with all aspects of math and science education in Texas, including the Texas Algebra Readiness Initiative, the Texas Regional Collaboratives for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching, the mathematics State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), the state adoption of math and science instructional resources, and the transition to the new math TEKS. She also serves as the state math coordinator for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) program.
She began her work in education as a middle school math teacher in the Bryan Independent School District (ISD). She has also taught middle school math in Spring ISD and science in Denison ISD. In addition to classroom instruction, she served as a middle school athletic coach, campus instructional specialist, and a STEM facilitator during her 17 years with the school districts. Ms. Bilderback was a Master Instructor for the Infinity Project with the Lyle School of Engineering at Southern Methodist University. Ms. Bilderback earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with a specialization in mathematics from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix.
