George W. Bush Institute

The Bush Institute recently announced the selection of three schools to participate in the Middle School Matters Initiative. These three schools, of which two are in Texas, will receive intensive, on-site support in reading, mathematics and writing from the Nation's leading experts.

International Numeracy Conference

RME Director Dr. Ketterlin Geller presented at the International Numeracy Conference held in Berlin, Germany sharing her research on effective mathematics teachers and the importance of integrating mathematical, pedagogical, and learning sciences knowledge in classroom instructional strategies.

UTeach Conference

RME Researcher Dr. Candace Walkington presented throughout the summer, specifically on the personalization of mathematics, connecting student interest to instruction and problem solving, at the 1st annual Midwest Meeting on Mathematical Thinking (M3T) held in Minneapolis, as well as at the Reasoning Mind Symposium in Dallas. While at the UTeach National Conference in Austin, she presented with colleague Michael Marder on the connection between teacher behaviors and value-added model assessments: Exploring Excellence in Teaching Using the UTeach Observation Protocol.

Educational Assessment

RME Director Dr. Ketterlin Geller and colleagues were recently published in the latest issue of Educational Assessment with their article Construct Definition Using Cognitively Based Evidence: A Framework for Practice. An abstract of the article is available online.
