Writer's Seminar in New York

Locations and Accommodations for New York 2017 Seminar

Accommodations

The group resides at the House of the Redeemer located at 7 East 95th St. between Madison Avenue and Fifth Avenue and two blocks from an entrance to New York's Central Park. This prime location is just a short distance from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and many fine restaurants.

The House of the Redeemer is an Italian Renaissance mansion built in 1916 for Edith Shepherd Fabbri, granddaughter of Cornelius Vanderbilt. Main reception rooms are furnished with antiques of the 16th and 17th centuries. Now the property of the Episcopal Church, it offers a private, intimate setting for small gatherings, a limited number of sleeping rooms and a private chapel. This unique property is not a hotel, but rather a residence open to all faiths, used for retreat purposes by both religious and secular groups.

Rooms

Bedrooms are cozy and adequate with twin beds. Baths are located in the hallway adjacent to the sleeping rooms, and bathroom schedules can be informally arranged among those who are early risers and night owls. There is no maid or room service, and the House of the Redeemer is a smoke-free facility. Single rooms and those with a private bath carry surcharges (if available).

Meals

Some meals are provided. Details to follow, closer to date.
