What to Bring
- A simple calculater or phone that has that capabilty
- All other materials will be provided by the presenter
The week will be designed to give each teacher participant a set of lessons and notes for each topic of the two courses. Strategies will be given to help teachers save time and prioritize curriculum items for student success. General notes and specific lessons will be presented for Macro and Micro. Teachers new to the courses will be shown what materials must be covered, how they might be covered, and what expectations have been given by College Board and ETS. Experienced AP* teachers will be given up-to-date activities and student tested lessons. All participants will be presented with complete discs and hard copies of basic notes and activities that will complete a semester’s course. Subject lessons and activities are being re-written during the spring of 2013 and will include the latest changes from ETS and College Board.
About Ulrich Kleinschmidt
Ulrich Kleinschmidt has taught AP Government and Economics at Kempner High School in Sugar Land, Texas, since the late 1980’s. He is Social Studies Department Chairperson and a consultant for the Southwest Region of College Board. In addition, he has led conferences and institutes since the late 1990’s. He is the lead author of Kaplan’s AP Review Text for US Government and Politics and a contributing author of Pearson Education’s AP Test Prep Series for Macroeconomics and Microeconomics. His experiences include summer institutes at seven universities in the southwest region of the USA and school districts in Florida, Colorado, and Texas. Ulrich also had the opportunity to present economics training sessions in Russia for the State Department and Guangzhou, China for College Board. Lastly, he has been a national exam grader and table leader for College Board since 1999.
