LaShon Ross serves as Deputy City Manager for the City of Plano where she has oversight responsibilities for the Libraries, Parks and Recreation, Human Resources, Emergency Management & Public Safety Communications, Police, and Fire departments. She joined the City of Plano as Human Resources Director in March 2001 and served in this capacity until she was promoted to Assistant City Manager in February 2009 and to Deputy City Manager in 2010. Before coming to Plano, LaShon served as Human Resources Director for the City of Texarkana, Texas for over twelve years. She served as an Adjunct Instructor for the City of Houston's Leadership Program from 2006 -2009.
LaShon is a 2001 graduate of Leadership Plano; holds a Certificate in Mediation Studies; and is a Certified Professional through the International Public Management Association for Human Resources. She has completed extensive work with the City of Plano in the areas of succession planning, leadership development, and conflict resolution. For several years, LaShon has taught the Succession Planning & Leadership Development module for the "Texas Certified Public Manager" program.
LaShon holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A & M - Texarkana, and a Master of Science in Counseling from Southern Methodist University. She maintains civic involvement; has written several published articles; and is a frequent presenter at conferences/seminars.
