SMU Sport Management Graduate Assistant Position

Summary: The Sports Management Graduate Assistant, at the direction of the Program Director and Program Specialist, is responsible for assisting in all administrative, marketing, and special event efforts of the sports management programs (MS/BS) as well as teaching assistance to the Program Director.  Assistants will work approximately 20 hours per week, August 2021 – Summer 2022 and will be paid $300 per week. This position does not include any tuition benefits package.

Responsibilities include:

  • Draft written reports and memoranda and create detailed Excel reports and databases
  • Supervise undergraduate Social Media Coordinators executing the program’s digital strategy
  • Assist with the coordination of marketing campaigns
  • Assist with the coordination of staging events to recruit prospective students
  • Assist with the design and development of marketing and promotional materials
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing on and off--campus program initiatives
  • Assist with daily office duties and tasks
  • Perform typical teaching assistant duties and responsibilities including research and grading
  • Proctor make-up exams for adjunct faculty
  • May include night and weekend hours but will not conflict with class schedule
  • May include serving as MS Sports Management representative on Simmons Graduate Council

  • Outstanding social media skills
  • Detail and follow-up oriented
  • Thorough knowledge and appreciation of the sports industry
  • Website content and editing experience a plus
  • Experience with Adobe preferred
  • Must be enrolled in a graduate-level degree program at SMU during the 2020-2021 school year
