Graduate Assistant

M.S. Health Promotion Management

Hours and Schedule: 20 hours per week

Position Length: August 2020 - May 2021

Compensation: $13.88 per hour

Job Description: The Master of Science in Health Promotion Management (HPM), housed in the Department of Applied Physiology and Wellness in the Simmons School of Education and Human Development, seeks to provide a multidisciplinary, evidence-based program for those seeking leadership positions within the field of Health Promotion. The graduate assistant (GA) will work closely with the Program Director to build program awareness and foster growth. The assistantship includes work in a number of areas such as marketing, recruiting, admissions and program development.

Assistantship Duties:
• Assist with recruiting events, and alumni activities
• Field program inquiries and assist with other aspects of the admissions process
• Develop new policies and innovative programs to ensure excellent customer service to HPM students
• Design marketing materials to publicize department programs to a broad constituency, including brochures, mailings, emails and presentations as needed
• Develop and maintain the program newsletter
• Maintain and grow the social media platforms with consistent messaging and timely posting
• Assist with development and implementation of program assessment activities
• Collaborate with faculty and division staff on events and activities
• Research programs at competing institutions
• Research contacts with regional corporate and community wellness programs
• Other projects to be assigned based on GA’s professional interests and the needs of the department

Preferred Qualifications and Essential Skills:
• Ability to handle multiple projects with attention to detail
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Interest in working with faculty, students, and applicants
• Positive attitude and good sense of humor
• Flexibility in working independently and with teams
• Experience in marketing or admissions a plus
