Student Reporting Protocol for Symptoms, Exposure and Positive Cases

Please remember to follow this student protocol if you have symptoms, exposure to a positive case, or a positive diagnosis

Symptoms

  • Contact your physician or the Dr. Bob Smith Health Center at 214-768-2277 for a screening interview by trained medical staff.
  • Stay home.
  • Inform your teacher.

Exposure to a positive case

  • Contact your physician or the Dr. Bob Smith Health Center at 214-768-2277 for a screening interview by trained medical staff.
  • Inform your teacher, who will inform the chair, who will inform the Dean.

Positive diagnosis

Risk Mitigation Efforts

  • Upgraded air filters are being installed over the next 30 days in all SMU buildings including all HVAC systems – main campus and East campus – which eliminate 95% of the molecules that will spread the virus and will be in place before classes start.
  • All classrooms have been marked with social distancing
  • Classrooms will be cleaned in between classes (either by faculty and/or by cleaning staff)
  • An additional of time frame of 5 minutes will help with social distancing as students move from class to class
