Joe L. “Joey” Cope is a lawyer and mediator. Cope is the Dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies at Abilene Christian University’s Dallas campus. He most recently served  as the Executive Director of Duncum Center Solutions (ACU’s conflict management services and training division) and as an Associate Professor in the Conflict Management and Resolution program at ACU. He has served as an adjunct professor at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California and the William H. Bowen School of Law in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Cope is a past chair of the State Bar of Texas Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, a past director of the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association, and a past convener of the Texas Mediator’s Roundtable. He coauthored West Publishing’s “Texas Practice Guide: Alternative Dispute Resolution” from 2012-2019. In 2017, Cope was the recipient of the Justice Frank Evans Award from the State Bar’s ADR Section for excellence and contributions to the field of alternative dispute resolution.
