Dr. Sweeney is a Marriage and Family Therapist and holds clinical licenses in both California and Texas. While in California, Dr. Sweeney received specialized training in Infant Mental Health through the Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She additionally studied Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the Newport Psychoanalytic Institute completing their prestigious 1-year program. After transitioning to Texas, Dr. Sweeney became certified as a Level II Restoration Therapist under the direct mentorship of Terry Hargrave, founder of Restoration Therapy.


Dr. Sweeney has a passion for systemic/collective genres. She has applied these principles in private practice and in corporations for leadership assessment and development.  Dr. Sweeney has presented at state, national, and international conferences and symposiums.  Dr. Sweeney has advanced training in human sexuality and has completed original research in sexual health. She earned her Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Wesleyan University. Subsequently, she authored a chapter in Marriage and Family Therapy: A Practice-Oriented Approach, 2nd Ed (2019).  Dr. Sweeney is married to Matt Sweeney and together they are raising two sons.
