Academic Center for Excellence

Services provided by the office of Student Persistence and Achievement are located in the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE), located in Armstrong Commons.  The range of innovative programming offered at ACE focus on the academic success of new students, including first-year and transfers. Recognizing that everyone comes to college with different educational experiences, academic services include assisting those who identify as first-generation college students, may need guidance in adjusting to an urban city, or seek assistance in fully utilizing all campus resources, whether they be academic, financial, or social needs. The office of Student Persistence and Achievement will plan and implement intentional programming and provide mentorship to students in support of their academic pursuits.  This office will also coordinate many of its efforts in partnership with Student Affairs and other areas within Academic Affairs.

ACE is also home for the Rotunda Scholars program, which provides an intensive one-year system of support for students selected based upon their admissions applications.  Those students selected as Rotunda Scholars can expect their one year program to include peer mentoring, informal gatherings and presentations from faculty, enrollment in academic success strategies courses, and supplemental instruction for key courses.
