Current and prospective SMU students can earn credit or placement through CLEP, DSST, MAT, THEA, LSTAT, or select others.

Thanks for your interest in placement testing and evaluations at SMU, Mustang. The University Testing Center (UTC) opened in summer 2022 and plans to add a pilot of this service in summer 2023. Check back late spring 2023 semester for additional information.

We also provide fee-based proctoring services by appointment for local distance learners enrolled at other institutions. Please review our Proctor Request Procedures (forthcoming) to arrange a proctored exam.

High school students testing for dual credit, academic acceleration or other programs must be age 14 or older and must have a parent or guardian remain on site at all times if under the age of 16.

The University Testing Center contracts with Castle Worldwide/Scantron, Inc. (forthcoming) and PSI (forthcoming) to provide professional testing for certification, licensure and employment.
