Spring 2020 Course Evaluations
Student course evaluations will be administered at the end of the spring 2020 semester as usual.
Promotion and Tenure / Third-Year Reviews
Faculty, at their option, may choose to exclude the spring 2020 teaching evaluation data from their third-year review and promotion and/or tenure dossiers.
Extension of Contracts for Non-Tenure Track Faculty
Non-tenure track faculty, at their option, may choose to exclude the spring 2020 teaching evaluation data from major reviews that determine whether the faculty member will receive a new contract.
Department chairs and deans will have access to all course evaluations for faculty in their department or school including the evaluations from the spring 2020 semester. This allows department chairs and deans to more fully understand and address issues that may have arisen during the semester in a timely manner. Faculty, at their option, may choose to explain exceptional circumstances or challenges they faced during the 2020 calendar year in their Faculty Activity Report (FAR) including difficulties in transitioning courses from “in class” to “online” or other issues related to teaching or research. Any faculty member who is dissatisfied with his/her salary adjustment based on the use of the spring 2020 course evaluations in the annual review may ask the Dean to reconsider the matter or the Provost to review the matter.
