Michael Tumeo became Director of Institutional Research in January, 2013. The Office of Institutional Research oversees data and information support for university decision makers, as well as regulatory data reporting to entities such as the Department of Education, and providing data and information to ranking entities such as U.S. News.
About Michael Tumeo
Michael joined SMU in January 2006 as Assistant, and then Associate Director of Institutional Research. Prior to joining SMU, Michael worked as an Institutional Research Analyst at the University of Texas, Arlington (UT Arlington) from 2001 thru 2005.
Michael received his Bachelor of Science, in Psychology from UT Arlington in 1987, followed by a Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, from Northeast Louisiana University (now the University of Louisiana, Monroe) in 1990, and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology, emphasis in Cognitive and Physiological Psychology, in 1998, from UT Arlington.
Before his career in Institutional Research, Michael worked as a Personnel Research Psychologist, for the Office of Personnel Management in Washington D.C. where he was presented the Director’s Award for Excellence, 2000; a Neuropsychological Technician at UT Southwestern Medical Center; and a staff counselor at Lakepointe Medical Center, in Rowlett.
