The United Methodist Christian Education and Children's Ministry certification courses teach individuals to administer programs that develop faith formation, equip disciples of Jesus Christ, and provide an understanding of United Methodist tradition and doctrine.
The Children's Ministry track focuses on skills in working with volunteers and staff to create programmatic experiences and an environment that encourages children in the Christian faith.
The Christian Education track focuses on relating to church volunteers and staff with emotional maturity and sound judgment and demonstrating leadership in the church's educational ministry.

Both new and returning Certification students must complete the application to register. You only need to complete one application per year for access to all Certification courses offered, including UM Studies. After approval of your application for Certification courses, you will be sent a link for course registration. Registration for next year's courses will opens August 2020.
Required for all UM Certification tracks:
Teaching Biblical Faith (Teaching Bible): A consideration of pedagogical methods for the church as it encounters the biblical message of the Old and New Testaments with special emphasis on understanding theological implications. Offered January 5-10, 2020.
Teaching Theology: A survey of issues in theology and their implications for teaching and learning in the church, with special emphasis on understanding theological implications. Offered January 2021.

Teaching and Learning: Historical, theological, and philosophical foundations of Christian education with attention to ways people develop and learn across the age span and how teaching takes place in the church. Special projects will be assigned based on track. Required for Christian Education track and Children's Ministry track. Offered January 5-10, 2020.
Administration and Leadership: An examination of the role of the educator in ministry through administration and leadership in local church education. Special projects will be assigned based on track. Required for Christian Education track and Children's Ministry track. Offered January 2021.
