Lay Schools of Theology

Lay Schools of Theology

Each year hundreds of laypersons pause to learn from some of the nation’s foremost teachers of the Bible, religion, theology, and ministry from the faculty of Southern Methodist University’s Perkins School of Theology. The Perkins Summit for Faith and Learning and the Houston Lay School offer opportunities for learners across the country to gather with these scholars for study and reflection on a range of theological subjects. Please explore these opportunities in your geographic area.

Perkins Summit for Faith and Learning (formerly called Perkins Theological School for the Laity) takes place each March on the main Dallas campus of Southern Methodist University.
The Houston Lay School of Theology meets each February and August at St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Houston. The program is made possible in part by the Howard-Holbert Endowment at SMU.
