Prayers of the People from the Service of Lament and Prayer in Response to the Tragedy in Orlando

Let us pray for all victims of the Pulse Night Club shooting and for all those who care for them.

Let us pray for the city of Orlando, for all who live and work there, especially for their police officers and emergency personnel, for physicians and nurses, for therapists and counselors, for pastors, imams and rabbis and all who give aid.

Let us pray for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and queer siblings, that they be protected and delivered from oppression and all harm, that they be cherished and supported as members of the beloved community.

Let us pray for the Muslim Community as they observe the holy season of Ramadan, for a blessing on their discipline and strength as they fast. May they, also, be protected and delivered from oppression and all harm. May they, also, be cherished as members of the beloved community.

Let us pray for all persons in pain, for those who suffer terror and oppression behind closed doors, and especially for children who are misunderstood and bullied and who are abused and rejected by those charged with their care.

Let us pray for all who are tempted to hatred, murder, and violent rage, especially the young and the vulnerable. Heal them, and turn their hearts.

Let us pray for an end to senseless violence in every place, and for the will to pursue that end.
