Swami Shantatmananda at Perkins – May 17, 2011

The Swami, pictured here with Robert A. Hunt, director of Global Theological Education at Perkins, lectured from 7-8 pm on Contemplative Practices within the Vedanta Hindu Tradition and received questions from attendees afterward.

Inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s ideal of nation- and character building, Swami Shantatmananda has initiated programs in the fields of disaster management, value education, women’s empowerment, interfaith dialogue, and world peace. In January 2011, the Swami, along with the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, launched a three-year program entitled “Awakening India” – which was televised nationwide.

Swami Shantatmananda conducts regular discourses in English, Bengali, Tamil and Hindi in Delhi and throughout India. He has been invited on lecture tours to Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Russia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Poland, and South Africa.
