What is the Purpose of Theta Tau

The purpose of Theta Tau is to develop and maintain a high standard of professional interest among its members and to unite them in a strong bond of fraternal fellowship.

What We Do

We are involved in many activities around campus. We are competitive in intramural sports, show spirit on game day out at the boulevard, get musical in SMU’s annual “Sing Song,” the list goes on. We are more than JUST an engineering fraternity.

Why Theta Tau

Our fraternity makes up close to 10% of the Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering undergraduates. Our members span every major the engineering school offers, while many of our members also double major. But what makes Theta Tau great is our development of the whole student. The area between social fraternity and honors society allows us to create an environment where students can grow academically and professionally, as well as socially. When we combine all these aspects, our members develop very marketable interpersonal skills.

We can achieve professionalism through several enhancing activities. We host workshops on crucial skills needed in the field. Factory and plant tours allow first hand exposure to a variety of careers. We also establish relationships with area professionals and companies to provide support to not only our members, but also SMU.
