Technology Training Series

The Office of Information  Technology is pleased to announce the launch of SMU’s new Technology Training Series.  Seven sessions will be offered during the 2011-2012 Academic Year.  The series is designed for those who desire to increase their skillset, knowledge, and use of the many applications available at SMU. Sessions are intended for employees "on-the-go" who may not always have time to attend a traditional hands-on-training class.  Our goal is to provide you with useful information and practical application. Of the trainings scheduled, we plan to explore new features in Blackboard, intermediate topics in Inside.SMU, Outlook Productivity and more.

Classes offered in the fall will be  lunch-and- learn programs.  Classes include:

Sep 21   12:00pm  Inside.SMU: Managing Lists & Views     Hughes Trigg Promenades AB
Oct 11    12:00pm     Office 2010 and Inside.SMU  Hughes Trigg Forum
Nov 16    12:00pm  Inside.SMU: Exploring My Site  Hughes Trigg Forum

For questions about additional training offerings call 8-1824 or visit .  We hope to see you at one of our upcoming training sessions.  Register today!

Lync 2010 Available for Faculty and Staff

MS Lync

All faculty and staff accounts are now enabled for Lync 2010. Once the Lync client is installed, employees have access to presence indicators (in Outlook, Lync, and Inside.SMU), instant messaging functionality, and desktop sharing.  With Lync, you can create groups of contacts to help facilitate group discussions for teams or committees.  All conversations can be saved within Outlook to allow searching and archival. Lync allows employees to quickly connect to get the information they need!  Have you tried Lync yet?  Visit the Lync site for more details.
