(via Canvas LMS)

AEFIS, the Academic Evaluation, Feedback and Intervention System, is a web-based solution integrated into SMU's Canvas LMS to streamline the process of setting up assessment for general education curriculum courses.

Getting Started

Common Curriculum Assessment

Faculty teaching in the Common Curriculum MUST include a Signature Assignment (paper, exam, report, project) and link those assignments to the Learning Outcomes for the CC Component tagged to the class. This must be completed each term that a course is taught, including intersessions.

The timeline for assessing the Common Curriculum is on a three-year cycle so that each general education component is assessed every 3 years. This allows for a more intentional process of collecting and analyzing data, identifying improvement strategies, and implementing those strategies.  The Common Curriculum Assessment Calendar shows the components set to be assessed for AY2020-21 through AY2023-24.

Please Note:
If you do not see assignments when accessing the Assignments section of AEFIS, use the Refresh LMS Assignments button to retrieve assignments from Canvas.
