James F. Hollifield

What Political Science Professor James Hollifield says about the immigration issue:

“The crisis of unaccompanied alien children is a crisis of our own making and sending the Texas National Guard to the border will not help.  We desperately need immigration reform to allow more people to live and work legally in the United States and to allow families to come together.  The U.S. also must respect its legal obligations under the 1951 Refugee Convention to give individuals fleeing violence and persecution an asylum hearing.  Under the Convention asylum seekers cannot be summarily returned to the countries from which they have fled.”
