Medical Ethicist, Altshuler University Distinguished Teaching Professor and Professor of Law
SMU Law Professor Tom Mayo is a professor in Dedman School of Law and a nationally recognized authority on medical ethics.
In addition to his position at SMU, he is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas - Southwestern Medical School. He teaches courses in the areas of health care law, bioethics, medical-legal humanities, constitutional law, administrative law, torts, and legislation.
Between Jan. 1 –26, 2014, Professor Mayo was featured in 870+ media outlets discussing the Marlise Munoz (brain-dead pregnant mother) end-of-life case. National media outlets included The Associated Press (print and television), The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, The New York Times, National Public Radio, CNN ("Anderson Cooper 360" and other shows), CBS Evening News, NBC News (national), Reuters, Fox News, MSNBC and The Huffington Post.
