Assistant Professor of Physics
Krista Lynne Smith is an observational astrophysicist and assistant professor in the Department of Physics at Southern Methodist University specializing in star formation in distant galaxies and the environments of supermassive black holes. In her research, she uses a wide array of telescopes on Earth, in orbit, and on the International Space Station. She joined in SMU faculty in 2020. A Dallas native, she was an Einstein Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University prior to joining the SMU faculty in 2020.
