Clinical Assistant Professor, Center for Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management
John Potter is an active practitioner in dispute resolution and conflict management. He has mediated more than 3,000 disputes with most of those occurring in the health care field. In addition, Potter has worked with a number of organizations, both public and private, in conflict resolution.
He received his Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University and his Master of Arts in Dispute Resolution from Southern Methodist University. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Distinguished Clinical Scholar at the State University of New York’s State College of Optometry.
Potter served as a member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) in academic years 2012 and 2013 and served as chair during the 2014 academic year. During his tenure, the Institutional Review Board increased compliance, broadened its scope by reviewing more than 300 research protocols involving more than $15 million in human subjects research funding.
Potter has been quoted in Readers Digest, the Wall Street Journal, and the Asian Wall Street Journal, as well as other national and international publications.
