SMU celebrates 31st annual National Night Out Oct. 7

SMU will partner with neighborhoods throughout Dallas and thousands of communities nationwide on Oct. 7 for the 31st Annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.

National Night OutDALLAS (SMU)—On Tuesday, Oct. 7, SMU will partner with neighborhoods throughout Dallas and thousands of communities nationwide for the 31st Annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.

National Night Out, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, will involve more than 15,000 communities across the nation. The event is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

SMU’s local National Night Out event is co-sponsored by the SMU Police Department.

What: SMU National Night Out will include carnival games, contests, safety demonstrations, a raffle and appearances by the SMU Police Department, University Park Police and Fire Departments, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

SMU students and neighbors are invited to attend.

Tuesday, Oct. 7

5-7:30 p.m. - Food, games, bounce house, dunk tank and appearances by SMU cheerleaders and football players.

5:15 p.m. - Dorm Burning Simulation

6 p.m. - CareFlight Helicopter Landing

National Night Out is designed to:
