Book Signing: SMU Professor emeritus Darwin Payne

Author and SMU Professor emeritus Darwin Payne will have a book signing for No Small Dreams: J. Erik Jonsson—Texas Visionary on Aug. 23.

Darwin PayneAs the Erik Jonsson exhibit at the Old Red Museum of Dallas County History & Culture nears the end of its successful nine-month run on Aug. 31, the museum continues its exploration of his life with a book-signing event on Saturday, Aug. 23, with the author of the former mayor’s first biography.

No Small Dreams: J. Erik Jonsson—Texas Visionary, was written by Dallas historian Darwin Payne and is published by Southern Methodist University’s DeGolyer Library. This will be the first opportunity for the public to buy the volume, published only this month. The book was researched substantially through the voluminous Jonsson Papers held by the DeGolyer Library in some 170 archival boxes and covering the subject’s entire life.

Allie Beth Allman & Associates is joining the Old Red Museum in sponsoring the event, which will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. with light refreshments and comments by Payne. Old Red is located at 100 S. Houston Street in the familiar old red courthouse building at Dealey Plaza.

The book-signing event is free to the public. It also brings free admission to the Jonsson Exhibit which will be across the hall from the first-floor book-signing event.
