SMU among supporters of the Dallas Mayor's Summer Reading Club
SMU joins Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings in kicking off the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club.
SMU President R. Gerald Turner encouraged students to “Pony Up and Read” at the May 14 kick-off of Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings’ Mayor’s Summer Reading Club. SMU is one of the sponsors of the eight-week Dallas libraries summer reading program.
As SMU celebrates its “Year of the Library,” Turner also encouraged young readers to visit other landmarks while on campus, such as the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum and a two-week exhibit (July 14-27) at SMU’s DeGolyer Library featuring George Washington’s personal copy of the Acts of Congress, which includes the U.S. Constitution.
