“We are privileged to have U.S. Supreme Court Justice Scalia visit SMU, and are delighted he and Bryan Garner will be together to share insights of their very important and widely discussed book,” said SMU Dedman School of Law Dean John B. Attanasio.

General admission tickets are $35 for the lecture; $50 for the lecture and a copy of Reading Law. After the lecture, Justice Scalia and Garner will sign books (which will not be sold at the event).

In addition to his public appearance, Justice Scalia will serve as a Distinguished Jurist-in-Residence at SMU Dedman Law Jan. 28-29. The longest-serving member of our nation’s highest court will speak to students in several classes at SMU Dedman School of Law, where Garner, a noted speaker and author (of more than 20 books), regularly teaches a popular course on advanced legal writing.

The duo met in 2006 after Justice Scalia expressed respect for Garner’s work in Black’s Law Dictionary, which Garner has edited since 1995. They co-authored their first book, Making Your Case: The Art of Persuading Judges, in 2008.
