Picking SMU's all-time football team

The Dallas Morning News asked its readers to pick their favorite SMU football players of all time for each position. The program is approaching its 100th anniversary.

The results - and a slide show - were published in today's edition.

Among the favorite Mustangs were quarterback Don Meredith, running back Doak Walker, running back Eric Dickerson, wide receiver Jerry LeVias and cornerback Russell Carter.

Tickets for the 2012 season are now on sale. The season opens Sept. 2 against Baylor in Waco. The first home game will be Sept. 8 against Stephen F. Austin.
