Dallas Historical Society announces recipients of 2010 Awards for Excellence in Community Service

Jose Bowen, dean of SMU's Meadows School of the Arts, is among those being honored by the Dallas Historical Society with an Award for Excellence in Community Service.

TheĀ  Dallas Historical Society has announced the recipients of its 2010 Awards for Excellence in Community Service.

"Each year we look forward to this fantastic opportunity to honor some of Dallas' brightest civic, cultural and community leaders," said society executive director Jack Bunning. Award recipients are chosen by a committee, led this year by William T. Solomon. The awards will be presented at a luncheon Nov. 9 at the Fairmont Dallas. Mary Anne Cree, a longtime Dallas philanthropist and previous award recipient, is chairwoman of the luncheon, and Michelle Neuhoff Thomas and Stewart Hyer Thomas are co-chairs.

Award recipients are:

Jose Antonio Bowen (arts leadership): The dean of the Meadows School of the Arts since 2006, Bowen has brought bold, dynamic leadership to the school and to the arts in Dallas.
