Assistant Professor Brian Molanphy to speak at Nasher Sculpture Center ceramics symposium
Brian Molanphy, assistant professor of art, will be a featured speaker during a ceramics symposium at the Nasher Sculpture Center on Saturday, September 21. The symposium is being held in conjunction with the opening of the Nasher’s new exhibition, Return to Earth: Ceramic Sculpture of Fontana, Melotti, Miró, Noguchi, and Picasso, 1943-1963, which focuses on avant-garde ceramics produced by artists in the years following World War II.
The symposium will explore perspectives on the often overlooked, yet groundbreaking work in fired clay of some of the most important artists of the 20th century. Molanphy will be part of an afternoon panel speaking on “A View from Today,” along with New York artist Nicole Cherubini and Austin artist Ginger Geyer.
