Listen to Daniel Hart’s Beautiful Track from the Film Ain’t Them Bodies Saints
Daniel Hart's gorgeous entry into the Texas-native's critically acclaimed film
Daniel Hart graduated with a BFA in Theatre in 1999.
If you’ve been roving Dallas’ music scene in the past year, you’ve probably heard the name Daniel Hart. The Meadows Theatre grad—class of ’99—broke through the indie (wait, is that a pejorative term now?) music scene after playing with Dallas’ own St. Vincent and John Vanderslice. His solo record The Orientalist left him with the reputation as a “man in demand,” and he was crowned the Best Male Vocalist in The Dallas Observer’s 2012 Music Awards.
Today, Daniel Hart is dipping into film—and gathering instant buzz. It’s easy to see the origins of the fuss: his new track for Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, a film by Texas native David Lowery, is stupendous. It’s minimalist, unforgettable, and ringing up comparisons to Jonny Greenwood’s There Will Be Blood masterpiece. Take a listen to the exclusive track over on Soundcloud—it’s gorgeous.
